The first pocket Great Ring with three gavels and perpetual calendar is developed in 1973.

In 1994, to celebrate a quarter-century of prestige watchmaking and after 5 years of research and development, Gérald Genta presents for the first time his Great Ring: the most complex wristwatch in the world, which gathers together in a few cubic centimeters more than 1000 extremely sophisticated   components which combine:

* a Tourbillon movement with an automatic or manual winding

* the automatic or manual winding of the carillon

* a Westminster carillon with four gavels, with small and big carillon or silence function

* a minute repeater

* a double display of the power-reserve: of the movement and of the ringing reserve

* the possibility to add to it a perpetual calendar with moon phases or a second time zone.

* the waterproofness at 3 Atm

In 1996 Gérald Genta introduces the Retro and Bi-Retro movements, symbols of creativity.

For the first time in the history of watchmaking two complications are combined on the same dial: jumping hour and retrograde minutes for the Retro and jumping hour with retrograde minutes and date for the Bi-Retro.
