Franck Muller

It is at the end of the 80s, in the city of Geneva, that two men, Franck Muller and Vartan Sirmakes met. The passion for watchmaking unites them, the latters having each in fact a great complementary experience in the branch.

At the time, Franck Muller was making his own models under the brand name « Frank Geneva ». Since 1986, he presented every year his World Premieres based on prestigious complications which earned him the name of genius of watchmaking. As for Vartan Sirmakes, he was making casings for several brands of Fine Watchmaking in a workshop that he had founded in a Geneva district, along the Léman lake.

In 1991, Franck calls on Vartan for the conception of his new case middles. It is thus that the two men quickly understand that their complementarity could allow them to create an usual brand – without thinking that it would become 20 years later one of the most renowned names of the science of time.

Founded officially in 1991 in the village of Genthod near Geneva, the Franck Muller Manufacture establishes itself three years later, always in Genthod, in a castle dating back to 1905. This quiet place of 16 hactares overlooking the Leman lake and the Mont Blanc becomes then more than a production site, it is a concept called Watchland.

In less than 20 years, the watch brand has known how to acquire a world renown characterised by a spectacular evolution, an enviable financial solidity and a production of 40000 watches each year. Today the brand has 5 production sites in Switzerland, almost 500 employees in Switzerland, 48 exclusive stores and 600 points of sale in more than 100 countries. Its exceptional collections have made its success and reputation: from the Crazy Hours or the Vegas, for the models with ludic complications, to the Aeternitas mega – the most complicated wristwatch in the world with 36 complications and 1483 components, for what concerns the great complications. The latter only simply gave a concrete form to his renown of Master of Complications.
